Environmental Impact Assessments (EIA)

We conduct environmental impact assessments, develop environmental basic assessment reports, scoping reports and Environmental Management Programmes (EMPr) in terms of the National Environmental Management Act 107 of 1998 (NEMA) including the amended 2014 Regulations. EIAs incorporate other relevant environmental legislations related to water, waste, air quality, biodiversity to mention a few.
Section 24G of NEMA rectification applications

We also conduct environmental rectification applications (Section 24G) in terms of the National Environmental Management Act 107 of 1998 (NEMA) including the amended 2014 Regulations. This service is important to ensure environmental monitoring and compliance for the correct and sustainable utilization of environmental natural resources.

Environmental Management Systems (EMS) support services

Westleigh assists companies in the development of tailor made EMS for their companies and also maintains and conducts environmental audits to ensure compliance with the required environmental standards depending on specific company standards to help manage environmental risks. We also offer Environmental Control Officer (ECO) services for support with the implementation of environmental authorization and environmental management programme set conditions and environmental mitigation measures.
Facilitation of environmental permits and licensing
We facilitate applications for environmental related permits in terms of various environmental legislations related to the National Environmental Management Act, National Water Act and Mineral and Petroleum Resources Development Act, etc. such as applications for change of land use and land subdivision , applications for water use license and mining permits, authorizations
Agricultural soil, water and plant sampling for laboratory analysis

We conduct on farm soil, water and plant sampling for technical advisory services and laboratory analysis to determine important properties of these natural resources such as the Ph, electric conductivity, various anions, cations, microbiological properties of water for human use analysis, potassium, calcium, phosphorus and more. We also survey the soil horizons to determine the soil physical properties such as soil form, soil depth, soil color, clay percentage, infiltration rate, water holding capacity and soil limiting factors.

Agricultural feasibility studies and farm planning

We conduct on-site farm assessments to determine and manage the natural resources condition, agricultural potential and production capability of the land or farm and design farm plans and farm mapping.
Control of declared weeds and Invasive Alien Plants
​
We offer awareness and control services on declared weeds, Invasive Alien Plants (IAPs) and indicators of bush encroachment in terms of the Conservation of Agricultural Resources Act, 1983 (Act 43 of 1983) (CARA), which is the major legislation administered by the Department of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries on a national basis to control the spread of these problematic weeds that causes impact on agricultural land as some of them are poisonous, they consume a lot of water and occupies agricultural land which should have been utilized for food production.
